Camp 6The headquarters of Camp 6 was at Hwaan (25-01 117-31). By July 1, 1945 Camp 6 had trained 2113 Chinese guerrillas. In the past, Americans from this camp, assisted by specially trained Chinese, had engaged in mining activities along the coast. This mine laying had been directed against the small coastal transports which had been proceeding close inshore in water too shallow for Allied submarines to operate. Camp 6 organized an Air Crash Rescue Unit. This unit coordinated its activities with those of the Air-Ground Aid Society which was charged with the responsibility of rescuing downed Allied fliers. With the increase in the number of Allied sorties in this area, this unit was of genuine assistance to Allied pilots.
